Rangers and Celtic in transfer battle for Hearts striker Uche Ikpeazu

Celtic and Rangers are battling for Hearts star Uche Ikpeazu – but face competition from Premier League side Cardiff.

Ikpeazu, the forward, moved north of the border last summer after a couple of years with League Two Cambridge.

Ikpeazu is reportedly wanted by Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers

The 24-year-old has caught the eye with some impressive performances at Tynecastle, and he’s chipped in with five goals and four assists in 19 matches.

And, according to The Sun, the Old Firm rivals have started looking at Ikpeazu, who netted the winner in Hearts’ defeat of Aberdeen on Saturday.

However, Cardiff are also keeping close tabs on Ikpeazu, as they plan for life back in the Championship with relegation from England’s top flight a real possibility.

Another second tier side, Hull, are similarly said to be keen on the striker, who began his career at Reading before joining Watford in 2013.

Harry Redknapp insists Tottenham can close the gap on Manchester City and Liverpool with ‘one or two’ signings

Harry Redknapp believes Tottenham are just one or two players away from closing the gap on Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League.

Spurs are currently third but sit more than 20 points behind the top two.

Mauricio Pochettino has not made any signings over the last two transfer windows, but may be forced to in the summer with star playmaker Christian Eriksen being linked with a move to Real Madrid.

And former Tottenham manager Redknapp believes the gulf between the top three and the chasing pack will only get wider.

Christian Eriksen has been linked with a move away from Spurs

He told talkSPORT: â€Å“I think Man City, Liverpool and Tottenham are on a different level now and they will be next year and going forward unless the others do something drastic they will pull away from Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United.

â€Å“I watched Arsenal the other day and they are poor.

â€Å“Man United, who knows what is going to happen. They are five or six players short as well.

â€Å“Chelsea now with the problems with Roman Abramovich. We don’t see him there like we used to see him.

â€Å“I think the top three will pull even further away and Tottenham can close the gap if they get one or two in.

â€Å“If Eriksen goes then spend the money and go be a force again next year and close the gap on the top two.”

FA Cup final referee: These fans are unsure about seeing Kevin Friend officiate Manchester City vs Watford clash – ‘Cup final will be a bloodbath’

Kevin Friend was announced as the referee for this year̢۪s FA Cup Final between Manchester City and Watford on May 18.

The two sides will face each other at Wembley with City still aiming for a domestic treble.

Watford̢۪s only appearance in the final was a defeat to Everton in 1984.

Kevin Friend will take charge of the FA Cup Final

The referee will be an important factor in who lifts the trophy and will no doubt have some big decisions to make on the day.

The long-standing tradition means that this will be Friend̢۪s only appearance as an FA Cup final referee and he will be hoping it passes without any controversial incidents.

Manchester City have a good record when he has taken charge of their games.

They have lost just twice in the 24 times he has refereed them and Friend has never sent a City player off.

The Hornets have less cause to be hopeful, though, as they have managed just four wins in 19 games with Friend officiating. He has also shown two red cards.

Friend told the Football Association: â€Å“As a referee, the FA Cup Final is the pinnacle of your career. When you start out you never dream that you’re going to get the chance to take charge of a cup final, so to get the call this year is just fantastic.

â€Å“Every referee has goals and targets. There are certain games you want to be a part of and the FA Cup Final is definitely on that list.

â€Å“No matter what game it is, no referee can do it all on their own – it’s all about the team. This is a huge honour for us all and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Friend will be joined by assistant referees Constantine Hatzidakis and Matthew Wilkes, fourth official Graham Scott and reserve assistant referee Edward Smart.

Andre Marriner will be the video assistant referee for the match.

The reaction to the Kevin Friend appointment was mixed on social media though. Below you can see the best tweets.

England vs Czech Republic: Matej Vydra says Leicester star and World Cup hero Harry Maguire is Three Lions’ weak link

Matej Vydra says his team-mates will target Harry Maguire when the Czech Republic take on England in the opening Euro 2020 qualifier this Friday – with talkSPORT bringing you full commentary of the action LIVE from Wembley.

Vydra, the Burnley forward, knows how to best Maguire as the centre-back was identified as Leicester’s weak link before the Clarets faced the Foxes in the Premier League last week.

Though Leicester triumphed 2-1, they had to play nearly the entire match with only 10 men as Maguire was dismissed inside the opening five minutes.

The decision to show Maguire a red card was clear as day, and Vydra has revealed Burnley discussed the defender’s key weakness before last Saturday’s clash.

And, with Vydra due to come up against Maguire again when the Czech Republic visit Wembley, he claims England’s backline does not match up with the quality of the Three Lions’ attack.

Vydra said: “[Harry] Kane is top, [Marcus] Rashford as well, [Raheem] Sterling is in a great form. The attack is very strong.

“Defence, I don’t say it’s not strong as well, but it’s not as strong as the attack.

“For example, Maguire. We talked about him at Burnley before we played against Leicester.

“In some moments it seems he doesn’t know what’s happening behind him, that’s why he got a red card after five minutes in the match against Burnley.”

Vydra also made it clear he and his international team-mates will not be afraid to ‘kick’ the England players when they come up against Gareth Southgate’s side.

“They would surely like to hold the ball and play a possession game,” Vydra added, “so we have to be close to them.

“Don’t be afraid to kick them three or four times – then they may change the plan and play just one or two touches.”
