Liverpool transfer target Memphis Depay has teased a Lyon exit.
The Netherlands forward has been in superb form since joining the French club in a £15million deal from Manchester United in January 2017, scoring 34 goals in Ligue 1.
Depay has turned his career around after a miserable 18-month spell at Old Trafford.
His performances in France have alerted Liverpool, who are keen to add competition for Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
Depay would have got a few Liverpool fans dreaming of an Anfield switch after uploading a video of himself walking towards a private jet with the caption ‘Merci [goodbye] Lyon’.
The fact the plane, and Depay’s outfit, were all-red was apparently enough to make some supporters think he could be on his way to Anfield.
Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi are likely to leave Merseyside this summer in search of regular first-team football.
And reports in France claim Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp sent scouts to watch Depay in action for Lyon during the 2018/19 season.
The 25-year-old will have another chance to impress the Reds when the Netherlands take on England in the Nations League semi-final on June 6.
The Reds spent £160.85million on Alisson, Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri last summer – and Klopp has warned fans they won’t be splashing the cash again this year.

In March, he said: “I don’t want to talk exactly what we will do, but I don’t think this is a team at the moment where we have to spend the big money or whatever.
“The best way to do it is bring together a group of players, try to develop them altogether and then stay together for a while.
“That was maybe the main problem of Liverpool for the last decade. When they had a good team after a season they went all over the world. That will not happen this year for sure.”

In January it looked nailed on that Callum Hudson-Odoi was set to leave Chelsea and join Bayern Munich. The German side had made an offer of around £35million, a sizeable fee for an 18-year-old yet to establish himself as a first team player.
