Leyton Orient secured their return to the Football League with a tense goalless draw at home to Braintree.


The O’s suffered a dramatic fall from grace and tumbled out of League Two in 2017 – but they will now return to the fourth tier next season after pipping Salford City to the National League title.

The home side enjoyed much of the first-half possession but struggled to fashion opportunities on goal.


Jobi McAnuff came close for Orient after 37 minutes, but his curling shot was blocked by Kodi Lyons-Foster.















Macauley Bonne’s strike was flagged for offside after 60 minutes, before Iron’s defender Andrew Eleftheriou tested Dean Brill at the other end.


Orient’s Josh Koroma had an effort blocked on the line after 73 minutes as the game finished goalless, which was enough for the O’s to take the title.


There were wild celebrations at the final whistle, as more than 8,000 home fans entered the pitch to celebrate their return to the EFL.
