A number of fans got caught out in an April Fool’s prank suggesting the manager may be about to abandon the club.

The Twitter account @Newells_en is dedicated to giving English language updates about Argentina football club Newell’s Old Boys.

It tweeted about Bielsa returning to the club next season.

Bielsa is from Rosario, where the club is based, and has both played and managed them previously.

The tweet read: “BREAKING – Marcelo Bielsa to return to Newell’s Old Boys as Director of Football for the 2019/2020 season to help save his first club from relegation to the Primera B Nacional.”
