Ajax wonderkid Matthijs de Ligt has named Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford as the toughest striker he has come up against in his career.
The in-demand centre-back has been the subject of huge amounts of transfer speculation, with a number of top European clubs showing interest in his signature.
Man United have been strongly linked with a move for the Dutch sensation – and they may take heart from the fact he has confessed Rashford is one of Europe’s best forwards.
Speaking in a Q&A with Ajax TV, De Ligt was asked who his hardest opponent has been and after a moment of consideration he delivered his answer with a wry smile.
“That has to be Rashford, from Manchester United,” he said. “Great player, quick, technical skills.”
