Sam Allardyce has told talkSPORT he has had NO CONTACT from West Bromwich Albion over becoming their new manager, amid the latest links with a return to coaching.
However, the former England boss admits a move to take over at the Hawthorns is ‘a possibility’.
Big Sam has emerged as a strong favourite to succeed Darren Moore, who was axed on March 9, as the Baggies’ next permanent boss.
Allardyce admits he was surprised by Moore’s departure, given West Brom sit fourth in the Championship table, but has admitted he has received no word from the club over becoming his replacement… yet.
Speaking on Tuesday’s Sports Breakfast, Big Sam said: “Who is it now? West Brom?
“I have had no contact from West Brom, I can assure you that. I don’t know where this has come from.
“I was surprised, with the position they’re in, that Darren lost his job. It’s strange, fourth in the table and pushing for promotion?
“Do I want the job?
“It’s not a question if I want the job, it’s whether the club contact me and my agent, say what the position is, what they want me to do, what they expect me to do and what I think I’m capable of doing for West Brom.
“If it all gets to that stage and if everybody is comfortable with that, it may be a possibility.â€
But Sam Allardyce has divided opinion that there has been no contact from West Brom over the vacant comfortable with that then it may be a possibility. "I was at West Brom many, many years
