Chelsea defender David Luiz insists Roman Abramovich is still committed to the club and wants to be as involved as possible
Abramovich, 52, did not attend any matches at Stamford Bridge during the 2018/19 campaign due to the denial of a visa extension by the UK government, following increasing tensions with Russia.
Abramovich reportedly turned down a £2billion offer from Britain’s richest man Sir Jim Ratcliffe for the club last summer.
Luiz has signed a new two-year deal with Chelsea, who he rejoined in 2016 after two seasons on Paris Saint-Germain’s books.
The Brazilian, 32, was out of contract at the end of the season, so speculation surrounding his future increased as the campaign went on and after putting pen-to-paper, revealed Abramovich, who purchased the Blues in 2003, still has the same hunger to succeed.
“I had the opportunity to talk with him last week to decide my future,” Luiz said.
