Cristiano Ronaldo turned on the style once again for Portugal as he netted a superb hat-trick in a 3-1 victory over Switzerland.
The 34-year-old sent his country through to the first ever Nations League final, where they will meet either England or the Netherlands, who play tonight live on talkSPORT, on Sunday.
He took his tally for Portugal to 88 goals in 157 games since making his debut in 2003, and is now second on the list of all-time international goal-scorers in history, behind Iran’s Ali Daei.
It was the 53rd time the Juventus star had left with the match ball for club and country and was also the 10th tournament he had scored at for his country since netting at Euro 2004.

Euro 2004
Having broke through as an 18-year-old the year earlier with both Manchester United and Portugal, Ronaldo played at his first major tournament, scoring in the group stage loss to Greece and against Netherlands in the semi-final.
Ronaldo would also convert his spot-kick in the shoot-out win over England, but Portugal would lose in the final to unlikely winners Greece.
World Cup 2006
Ronaldo’s first and only goal in Germany came against Iran from the penalty spot, but it was his infamous wink when Wayne Rooney was sent off in the quarter-final that fans remember most.
Euro 2008
Coming off the back of his 42-goal heroics for Man United and being named best player in the world, Ronaldo was expected to take that summer’s tournament by storm.
However, he and Portugal failed to get going, with Ronaldo netting just once in a 3-1 win over Czech Republic.
World Cup 2010
Following his first season with Real Madrid, Ronaldo led his country at his second World Cup, this one in South Africa, and was named man of the match against Ivory Coast, Brazil and North Korea, the latter of which he scored his only goal against in a comprehensive 7-0 win.

After a slow start to the competition, Ronaldo burst into life with two goals against Netherlands in a 2-1 win, then he struck the only goal in a 1-0 win over Czech Republic.
World Cup 2014
Despite suffering from patellar tendinitis in his knee, Ronaldo still managed to play through the pain and while clearly not at his best, he did score the winner against Ghana, his 50th international goal, making him the first Portuguese to play and score in three World Cups.
Euro 2016
Ronaldo became the first player to score in four European Championships, when he converted twice against Hungary, before heading in against Wales in the semi-final. He was forced off injured after only 25 minutes of the final, but won his first tournament with Portugal, as they beat France 1-0 in stoppage-time.
Confederations Cup 2017
Ronaldo scored twice in wins over New Zealand and Russia, but missed out on Portugal’s third place play-off win over Mexico to be there for his newborn child.
World Cup 2018
Prior to his Nations League treble, Ronaldo scored a brilliant hat-trick in Portugal’s opening group stage match with Spain as the two sides shared a six-goal thriller.
He then scored the only goal in the following game against Morocco, but missed a penalty against Iran, the same side he scored his first ever World Cup goal against in 2006.
