Tottenham news: Clive Allen explains how Spurs can beat Manchester City in the Champions League

Tottenham must be brave and attack Manchester City if they want to upset the odds and progress from their Champions League quarter-final, insists Spurs legend Clive Allen.

The north Londoners welcome the champions to their new stadium on Wednesday night and enter the tie as underdogs.

City have won all of their last 14 games as they bid to complete an unprecedented quadruple.

However, Pep Guardiola̢۪s men were dumped out at this stage of the competition last season by a Liverpool side who refused to stand off them.

And Allen suggests this has to be the blueprint for beating City.

â€Å“They’ve got to be brave and positive. Get on the front foot, press City,” he told talkSPORT 2.

â€Å“But you’ve got to be very cautious as well because they’re an exceptional team. They’ve won 14 games on the bounce.

â€Å“I was at Wembley for their FA Cup semi-final against Brighton and they’re maybe looking a little bit jaded, but that’s me with my Spurs cap on.”

However, Allen is worried Tottenham̢۪s magnificent new stadium could actually work against the hosts and inspire the visitors.

â€Å“They’ve got so many experienced players who have played at the highest level. I’m a little bit worried that it might inspire them [City] to perform,” he added.
