Chelsea youngster Reece James has emerged as a summer transfer target for Brighton, according to reports.
James, 19, had an outstanding season on loan at Wigan as they successfully fought off relegation from the Championship.
It proved to be an award-winning campaign for the England Under-20 international, who established himself as a real fan favourite at the DW Stadium.
That has led to no shortage of interest in the right-back’s services, with the Seagulls one of the clubs vying to bring him on loan for the 2019/20 season – according to the Sun.
They will face a battle to land James, who recently joined the Chelsea first-team on a post-season trip to the USA, with Manchester United and Liverpool also reportedly interested in signing him.
James came up against new Brighton boss Graham Potter twice last season while he was in charge of Swansea.
It will be a waiting game for Potter and co as to whether they will land James though, with Chelsea yet to ratify their summer plans following their FIFA transfer ban.
Another season on loan could prove pivotal in James’ long-term development, with the possibility of regular football at Stamford Bridge next season unlikely.
